Liwa
Liwa sits further south and is where the real desert begins – home to some of the tallest, most dramatic dunes in the UAE, right on the edge of the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali), one of the largest sand deserts in the world. It's less visited than the desert areas near Dubai or Abu Dhabi, making it a good pick for anyone after a quieter, more remote desert experience.

Good to know before you go
Dress code
On a desert safari, wear light, loose clothes and closed shoes or sandals, and bring sunglasses and a scarf against the sand. For mosques, cover arms and legs; women also need a headscarf.
Weather
June to September often passes 40°C, so morning and evening tours are the most comfortable. From November to March the days are pleasant, but desert evenings can be cool, so bring a light jacket.
