Al Ain
Al Ain sits inland on the UAE's border with Oman and is known as the "Garden City" – a greener, quieter contrast to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with oases, forts, and the UAE's only mountain, Jebel Hafeet. It's also one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the region, with a UNESCO-listed history behind it.

Good to know before you go
Dress code
On a desert safari, wear light, loose clothes and closed shoes or sandals, and bring sunglasses and a scarf against the sand. For mosques, cover arms and legs; women also need a headscarf.
Weather
June to September often passes 40°C, so morning and evening tours are the most comfortable. From November to March the days are pleasant, but desert evenings can be cool, so bring a light jacket.
